MeGa-POC project

Men at gaming centers – Point of Care (Mega-Poc project) is an Institutional Review Board (IRB) approved prospective, a cross-sectional cohort of men attending gaming and betting centers in Kampala.

The study involves the identification of men found at gaming and betting centers and notifying them of the availability of HIV and syphilis testing at a nearby temporary shelter by the study team.

All men are given brochures containing information on HIV and STI testing, the benefits of testing, and the availability of test result notifications.

A major milestone of 500 men have been successfully tested for HIV and Syphilis and signed up for two years follow up using mHealth.
